ANTENUPTIAL CONTRACTS

An antenuptial contract is a legally binding agreement entered into between two parties intending to marry. The agreement serves to regulate the relationship between the parties with respect to their individually owned property. Once signed by both parties, it is attested by a notary and registered in a deeds registry.

While no one wants to be thinking about the possibility of divorce whilst planning a wedding, the sad fact is that it is important to be prepared. Your chosen matrimonial regime and the provisions of your antenuptial contract also apply at death. Few people consider this at all, but the importance of this legal decision is one of the most imperative parts of the planning of a wedding long before any “I do’s” or rings are exchanged.

If you would like to find out more about the different matrimonial regimes and how each will impact on you personally and would like our assistance in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact us.
